ABACO (Knowledge-Based Activities)
ABACO (Observatory of Knowledge-Based Activities) is a joint project of the Valencia, International Campus of Excellence (VLC/CAMPUS), in collaboration with the COTEC Foundation, which aims to become a national reference in the measurement and analysis of knowledge-based activities, as well as to assess their importance and impact in Spain. Its objectives are to find out exactly what the dimensions of knowledge-based activities are in Spain, as well as to promote reflection and analysis of these activities. The project analyzes knowledge-based activities related to the creation of knowledge, as well as the productive and social use of these activities. One of the pillars of ABACO is the generation of its own information system, available on the ABACO website, which facilitates the analysis and diagnosis of the current situation and recent evolution of knowledge-based activities in Spain, as well as comparison with other countries. ABACO offers users a powerful database which is regularly updated with over 200 indicators structured in five areas:
- New technologies
- Human capital
- Innovation system
- Business environment
- Socio-economic impact
In addition, the ABACO website plays a key role in disseminating not only its own analysis but also that of others on knowledge-based activities. An important part of the website is the ABACO library, which stores and provides access to a wide range of new reports, working papers and publications in general. Publications:
