IvieLAB: The Valencian Community's audiovisual industry in the regional context

This report offers an update of the information available in the IvieLAB report: “Evaluation of Economic contribution of the Valencian Community’s audiovisual industry“.

The report reveals the significant weaknesses the audiovisual industry presents in the Valencian Community, with low productivity levels that restrain it from reaching higher profitability levels. The reduced average size of its firms may be a consequence of the sector’s low competitiveness. The fact that it suffered from the 2008 crisis to a higher degree than the national industry, explains its lost relative weight in the national total. Thus, its levels are currently much smaller, both in terms of income and employment, than before the 2008 crisis with half the sales volume and 25% less employment.
