Consumer behavior after COVID-19

Project start date: 2020
Project end date: 2021
Funding institution: Fundación BBVA

The end of the current crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is yet unknown, thus, making it difficult to have an overview of how it is changing and will further change consumer behavior. However, some of the questions that this document seeks to answer are: How are consumers responding to the situation created by the pandemic? Will the changes that are taking place in the way consumers purchase products and services remain? How are changes in consumer behavior affecting some critical sectors that have been severely affected by the pandemic, such as retail trade or tourism? How are these sectors adapting to changes in consumer behavior in a context of social distancing, are they changing the design of their services or are they making them more accessible?

The methodology will combine a conceptual and an empirical approach, focusing mainly on Spain, although a comparative analyses will be carried out when necessary based on statistics from sources such as, the European Union or tge World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), among others.
