Household expenditure patterns, defined as the average amount spent on different items making up the shopping basket, vary significantly depending on the different socio-economic characteristics, such as income, education level of the main breadwinner, social class, stage in life, geographic location, etc. Having accurate knowledge of these differences allows to better understand the determinants of spending, the type of households predominating in the areas analyzed (city or neighborhood) and which products will have a high demand.
These expenditure patterns are not static, they slowly change under stable conditions, while at high speeds during crisis periods. For this reason, the project will also analyze the changes in expenditure during the current period with respect to previous periods of growth, as well as, what type of expenses have been removed from the shopping basket and replaced with others.
