The most competitive Valencian family-owned firms stand out for their contribution to employment, although most feature a sole-administrator
Valencian family-owned businesses classified as strongly competitive (25.4%) generated 58.4% of the value added and 52.7% of the total employment produced by family firms in the region, making it the highest among all the Spanish regions. However, the percentage of family firms in the Valencian Community that have been placed in the medium or large category based on their size (14.2%) is still at intermediary levels compared to other regions, and mainly have a sole-administrator instead of a board of directors.
The Ivie-Bankia GECE Observatory analyzes the corporate governance, strategy and competitiveness of Valencian firms. This new Keys document makes a comparative analysis of the Spanish regions based on the contribution of the most competitive family-owned firms as compared to less competitive ones, and examines to what degree firms with different levels of competitiveness are opening up to more advanced corporate governance models based on transparency and accountability.
