This project continues the work carried out in the Observatory of Productivity and Competitiveness in Spain (OPCE), developed by the BBVA Foundation and the Ivie. Between 2022 and 2024, the work of the OPCE addressed a wide range of diagnoses related to Spain’s productivity gap. The results of the first edition of the OPCE were offered in January 2024 with the launch of its open-access database and the release of the first report, entitled El comportamiento de la productividad en España (1995-2022). Informe OPCE 2023, in addition to two Productivity Trackers that were also published. In January 2025, the second report, La productividad en España: los motores del cambio. Informe OPCE 2024, was published.

This third report considers both the aggregate perspective and the evolution of productivity over time, as well as the sectoral perspective and regional variations. It also discusses the productivity differences among companies within the various sectors of activity.  The study of all these perspectives requires handling a wide range of statistical sources, both macro and microeconomic, some of which are being adapted by the project team to meet the objectives of productivity analysis.
