One of the areas that has been most disrupted by digitalization is that of the communications media. The technological transformations of recent decades have had an impact on both production processes and the characteristics of the resulting products. In addition, however, there have been profound changes in the business models of media companies and in relationships with readers and audiences.
In parallel, digitalization has led to the elimination of jobs and to a profound transformation of occupational profiles in the media and, likewise, has had an extraordinary impact on the financial structures of media companies, their marketing channels and their relationships, synergies and alliances with other companies, in particular with publishing and audiovisual companies.
This monograph aims to analyze the role and socioeconomic contributions of the communications media today.
