The third report on the Spanish food and agriculture sector in the European context (Observatorio sobre el sector agroalimentario español en el contexto europeo. Informe 2019) analyzes the behavior of the Spanish food and agriculture sector compared to other EU countries, quantifying side by side the production branches that define the sector. As in last year’s edition, this study includes the analysis of a new link in the food and agricultural chain: distribution, alongside the primary sector and processing.
The document quantifies the different productive branches that define the agri-food sector in joint and examines their characteristics from six points of view: size, growth and composition; employment; productivity and competitiveness; the shopping basket; inflation and prices; foreign trade, investment effort in R&D; and the main subsectors.
