Air transport is a strategic sector on which the rest of the sectors depend on to function. It also plays an important quantitative role in the Spanish economy as a whole, since it generates 3.9% of the country’s value added and 4.1% of its employment.

Air Nostrum is a leading regional aviation company in Spain, being considered by far the most important Valencian airline in the Valencian Community and one of the five most important companies in the region. Its activity plays a very important role as an economic engine by generating GVA, employment and tax revenue throughout Spain.

However, Air Nostrum’s impact is not only economical; it also has multiple direct social contributions, some of which have very significant long-term economic effects. Worth highlighting are Air Nostrum’s role as a feeder and distributor of Iberia Group traffic in Madrid’s Airport, its contribution to the development of tourism in Spain and as the backbone airline of Spain in niche markets, ultra-peripheral communities and PSO (Public Service Obligations) flight routes.

This report highlights the numerous contributions of Air Nostrum to Spain, not only economically with its impact on GDP, employment or tax revenue, but also to the structuring and accessibility of the territory and to its tourism activity.
