Investment and Productive Capital Stock in Spain, Its Autonomous Communities, and Provinces
The capital stock database, developed by Ivie, in collaboration with Fundación BBVA, since 1995, provides information on sixty years of capital accumulation in Spain. The database includes investment and capital stock series at national level, disaggregated by autonomous communities and provinces and distinguishing between the different types of assets in which investment is embodied and the sectors undertaking that investment. This rich Fundación BBVA-Ivie data resource makes it possible to analyze the evolution of capital accumulation from multiple perspectives and has become an essential tool for studying the sources of economic growth in Spain.
The objective of the 2025 Investment and Capital Stock Project is to enhance the content of the database by updating and expanding it wherever possible, thereby continuing to support the analysis of Spain’s capital accumulation process. Particular attention is given to the features that have characterized investment and capital formation in recent years, providing up-to-date evidence on the patterns and dynamics shaping the country’s productive capital stock.
