This study has two main objectives: to update the Talent Index for Spain and its regions (INSEAD Talent Competitiveness Index) provided in the study published by the Cotec Foundation “Mapa del talento en España 2019. Cómo lo generan, atraen y retienen las comunidades autónomas”; and to offer an alternative indicator to measure the talent attraction and retention capacity of the Spanish regions (Cotec-Ivie Talent Index). Although both indicators use the methodology proposed by INSEAD as reference, they are based on different indicators and variables.
The two main reasons that led to the revision of the INSEAD indicator are: first, the original index was designed to compare a very large number of countries, with different degrees of development, that largely conditioned the selection of the variables analyzed; and, second, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the order of priorities in multiple dimensions changed, now focusing more on variables related to health and the environment, digitalization and resilience of companies and workers, all of which are contemplated in the new indicator.
