The economic impact of Mercadona in Andalusia in 2016

The objective of the report is to estimate the total economic impact of Mercadona, specifically in the Spanish region of Andalusia, in terms of output, value added and employment. Since Mercadona’s supermarkets in Andalusia also generate impacts in the rest of Spain via purchases from suppliers from other regions, the report quantifies these impacts, that, although not directly produced in Andalusia, are generated by the activity of the supermarkets in Andalusia. The impacts are estimated using an input-output methodology with the latest information available from the input-output tables for Andalusia and Spain.
