Economic Impact of the Sports Sector and Analysis of the Sports Industry in the Valencian Community
This project has two main objectives. First, it seeks to quantify the economic impact of hosting major sports events in the Valencian Community. Second, it aims to analyze the economic and financial characteristics of companies operating in the region’s sports sector, benchmarking them at the national level.
The first objective will be addressed through a series of deliverables analyzing the economic impact of selected events: the BBVA Open Internacional 125 WTA, Ironman 70.3 Valencia 2025, Valencia Judo Training 2025, and COTIF 2025. In addition, an ex-post assessment of the FIA Motorsport Games 2024 will be conducted to estimate its economic impact on the Valencian Community using input–output analysis.
With regard to the second objective, the analysis examines key firm characteristics, including size distribution, age, profitability, productivity, indebtedness and solvency, liquidity, and vulnerability and resilience. This analysis is carried out both for the sports sector as a whole and for its main subsectors.
