Research Areas
The lvie provided consulting services and technical assistance to the Regional Ministry of Finance and Public Administration in the negotiation process with the Central Government for a new model of regional funding. This work covered various aspects related to the analysis of the regional funding system and its impact on the Valencian economy. Over the course of 2014 the following activities were undertaken:
- Analyzing the results regarding the different models of regional funding;
- Identifying deviations from the model with respect to the objectives pursued;
- Assessing problems caused by equity and sufficiency;
- Quantifying the regional under-funding of the Valencian Community;
- Assessing the fiscal balance of the Valencian Community with respect to the Central Administration and its effects on the Valencian economy;
- Evaluating the results obtained by the current regional funding model;
- Creating proposals to improve the funding system while evaluating those of other regions from the Valencian perspective;
- Consultation on the criteria with which to defend the interests of the Valencian community in negotiating the new model.
These services were carried out around regular work meetings to discuss the above-mentioned points, as well as the drafting of proposals and analyzing the aspects considered most significant. The work undertaken resulted in four public reports and one internal report, along with permanent collaboration in the search for related information.
