Industry productivity in Spain: A microeconomic perspective
Project start date: 2010
Year of publication: 2012
Funding institution: Fundación BBVA
In this study an analysis is carried out on the productivity of Spain’s economy using micro data at firm level. Economic aggregates of the whole economy are taken into account as well as by industry, which can hide very different business dynamics. Small productivity gains in industry aggregates can be compatible with a subset of firms with substantial productivity gains. The SABI database is used with a sample of more than three and a half million year-firm observations from 30 sectors of activity, spanning the period from the late 90s to 2007 and 2008.
