Year of publication: 2017
Funding institution: S. D. Correcaminos

The objective of this research is double: to quantify the economic impact of the 36th Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Marathon on the income and employment of the Valencian Community and to assess the runners’ satisfaction and views on this sports event. In this year’s edition, the number of participants increased 11.2% with respect to the 2015 edition. The expenditure associated with the race was 14.4 million euros, three-quarters of which correspond to expenditure made by participants and accompanying guests coming from outside Valencia. The expenditure associated with the marathon has generated an overall economic impact on the Valencian region of 29.3 million euros in terms of production value and 9.2 in terms of income (value added, i.e., salaries, wages and turnover).
