Matilde Mas, newly appointed expert advisor to the Spanish Economic and Social Council (ESC)

Ivie’s Director of International Projects has been designated member of the Spanish Economic and Social Council (ESC) following the recent approval by the Council of Ministers

The Spanish Council of Ministers has recently approved the renewal of the Spanish ESC members, which includes Ivie’s Director of International Projects, Matilde Mas. Matilde Mas, who is also Professor of Economic Analysis at the University of Valencia, joins the Spanish Economic and Social Council (ESC)  as expert advisor in Economics, with two other economists, José Ignacio Conde Ruiz and Raymond Torres.

The Spanish ESC consists of 60 members, in addition to the president, distributed in three groups, with 20 members designated by the most representative trade unions, 20 designated by the most representative employers’ organizations and 20 representing the professional farming associations, fishermen’s organizations, Council of Consumers and Users and associations of cooperatives and worker-owned companies, on behalf of the social economy. It also includes six experts with recognized experience in the socio-economic and employment sphere. The Council was last renewed in 2013 and had been pending approval by the government for several years.

With a PhD in Economics from the University of Valencia, Matilde Mas will certainly contribute with her expertise in both economic research and the dissemination of knowledge. She is director of the Project DIGITES (DIGital Technologies Segment data) of the Joint Research Centre, Directorate B, of the European Commission. Also, she is co-author of 81 books and book chapters and has published more than 80 articles in specialist journals. She is member of the Advisory Council for Economic Affairs of the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and member of Cotec’s Top 100 Experts. She has also been awarded by the General Council of Economists of Spain with the Grand Cross of Merit in Service to the Economy. Her main fields of research are growth economics, analysis of public capital, new information technologies and intangible assets.
