Impact on the Valencian Foreign Trade of the New U.S. Tariff Policy

Project start date: 2025
Project end date: research in progress
Funding institution: Generalitat Valenciana

The main objective of this project is to analyze the economic effects resulting from the new tariff policy promoted by the United States on the productive and exporting sectors of the Valencian Community. Through the use of an empirical and sectoral approach, the aim is to provide a rigorous assessment to act as a basis for strategic decision-making by public administrations and economic agents in the region.

The study will combine various national and international trade databases (DataComex, UN-COMTRADE, WITS, WTO, Eurostat, INE, WIOD, among others), as well as specific sectoral and tariff information (WITS, ITC), in order to build synthetic indicators of trade exposure and commercial vulnerability. In addition, the analysis will consider regional production linkages through input-output tables.

The study will be rounded with an executive summary, clear conclusions, and practical recommendations aimed at mitigating the impacts and leveraging potential opportunities arising from the new international context.
