This paper reviews two growth strategies, known as the high road and the low road in labor economics. The first is based on the hypothesis that workers are more productive when they receive greater compensation, monetary and non-monetary. The recommendations of both strategies are applied to Spain’s autonomous regions. Based on available data, we can conclude that regions with higher productivity rates also tend to pay higher wages; have a greater weight of both employers and workers with higher education; a greater share of permanent contracts; more teleworking; higher subsidies per birth; and a closer relationship with general talent indicators.
