José Manuel Pastor, re-elected Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Valencia
José Manuel Pastor will continue for three years as Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Valencia, following his re-election to the post on Friday, 9 March 2018. Professor Pastor was the only candidate, obtaining 41 votes in favor and 12 blank ballots. The Dean’s team is made up of faculty members Salvador Castro, Elvira Cerver, Pedro Cillero, Cristina Crespo, Dolores Forés, Asunción Hernández, José Ramón García, Dolores Montagud, Francisco Muñoz and Manuela Pardo.
In the presentation of his program to the Faculty Board, he highlighted the importance of maintaining and boosting national and international recognition of the Faculty’s teaching and research excellence, promoting its wide reach in the community, and contributing efficiently to the socio-economic development of the Valencian Community.
The crucial challenges to be tackled in this new term in office include adapting and extending the Faculty’s range of bachelor’s and master’s degrees, a public, integral and high-quality offer with a clear international appeal, excellence and innovation that establishes the Faculty of Economics as a benchmark in university studies in economics and business. To this end, the Faculty will work towards obtaining the highest national and international credentials that enable it to build links with the world’s most prestigious universities.
Pastor also notes other challenges that must be faced during this term of office, including enhancing and increasing communication within the University community, but also with graduates, firms, institutions and society in general, to establish the Faculty as a point of reference for harmonious academic coexistence that contributes to forge an economic model aligned to the needs of a more sustainable, socially committed development.
