If we want information - geographic files - on the contours of the administrative units into which the territory of our country is divided - Autonomous Communities (CC. AA.), provinces and municipalities - we must go to the Boundary Lines Database (BDLL) available at the Download Centre of the National Centre for Geographic Information (CNIG), which depends on the National Geographic Institute (IGN). However, this database is continuously updated and does not have a history.This work presents a historical database of municipal contours covering the period 1998 - 2025, so that we have the geometry of the municipalities of Spain over a period of 28 years. To this are added the contours of the provinces, Autonomous Communities and Spain, as well as a layer with non-municipal territories, Jurisdictional Communities and other territories not assigned to any province or Autonomous Community.The database is offered in a single vector file in GeoPackage vector format in different layers and can be freely downloaded from zenodo.
