Geographic distribution of entrepreneurs' human capital
Year of publication: 2009

Abstract
Given that the human capital endowments of a territory have such a decisive influence on its ability to progress, it is of particular interest to analyze how entrepreneurs' human capital is distributed in Spain. Note 99 shows that this groups' human capital is distributed unequally, with the implications that this has on the location of economic activity. This factor also influences the possibility of obtaining higher levels of productivity, and therefore more income per capita and well being. Over the last thirty years differences between provinces have decreased, particularly between executives, but they still remain. The map of entrepreneurs' human capital endowments, both as a whole as well as the different kinds taken into account, indicates which territories have to make a particular effort to obtain the national average and to ensure the territorial balance advances. This note has been taken from the series "El capital humano y los emprendedores en España" conducted by Bancaja and the Ivie. The research team was made up of eight researchers from five Spanish universities and was directed by Lorenzo Serrano, Ivie researcher and senior lecturer at the Universitat de València. These monthly notes are avalaible in Spanish.
