U-Ranking

The ISSUE project (Synthetic Indicators of the Spanish University System), developed in collaboration with the BBVA Foundation and the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Económicas (Ivie), aims to analyze the performance of Spanish universities in order to provide comparable and synthetic images of them. As a result of this work, every year the rankings of universities and degrees are published, based on the study of the universities’ activities in teaching and research and innovation. Since the 2025 edition, it also includes an analysis of the labor market insertion of graduates.

U-Ranking provides university authorities, experts in higher education, students and career counsellors with a series of Spanish universities rankings, which are constructed with transparency and rigor, following the recommendations of experts in the elaboration of indicators and international rankings and of specialized literature.

The U-Ranking database is a set of Synthetic Indicators of the Spanish University System (ISSUE) that offers the user several products. First, it provides a ranking set of 72 public and private Spanish universities, classifying them according to their volume of results (U-Ranking volume) and performance (U-Ranking) -the relationship between total results and the size of the university-. U-Ranking allows users to compare Spanish universities from different points of view.

In addition, the U-Ranking website offers an accurate and user-friendly tool which allows users to build their own personal ranking by expressing their preferences on what to study, where and what importance they grant to university activities. This tool produces a compare list of universities which also provides other information of interest such as cut-off marks, the price per credit on first registration or labor market insertion results.

In addition, U-Ranking has introduced two new tools for analyzing labor market insertion: Ranking by studies and information by university. The first offers a ranking of 108 fields of study – grouping more than 4,700 degrees – according to the results obtained by university graduates in Spain. The second tool compares employment results according to the field of study and the university where the degrees are taught.
