IvieLAB. Economic Impact of NGEU Funds in the Region of Valencia
The aim of this report is to quantify the economic impact of Next Generation EU (NGEU) funds implemented in the Region of Valencia in terms of income generation (GDP) and employment, using an input-output framework. Since the latest Input-Output Table for the Region of Valencia produced by the Valencian Institute of Statistics dates back to 2000, the project incorporates an important methodological innovation: an updated version of the table developed by the Ivie.
A further methodological enhancement is the estimation of induced effects, namely those generated by the consumption of part of the income created through NGEU-funded activities. Incorporating these effects helps to avoid underestimating the overall impact and provides a more accurate assessment of the wealth generated by NGEU funds in the Region of Valencia.
The analysis is based on complete data available up to June 2026, updating the previous report published in 2025 and providing a comprehensive assessment of the economic impact of investments approved throughout the implementation period of the recovery funds. The report will present results on income and employment generated by NGEU-funded investments carried out in the Region of Valencia, both at the aggregate level and by sector of activity.
This approach makes it possible to identify the sectors that have benefited most from the recovery funds and to assess their contribution to regional economic activity. Measuring the economic impact of these investments is a key component of public policy evaluation, as it quantifies the returns generated in terms of income and employment.
