Inflation stands at 1.9% in Comunitat Valenciana after falling 1.2 points in June
In June, the annual inflation rate in the Valencian Community fell by 1.2 percentage points (pp), compared to the previous month, to 1.9%, a figure similar to that of Spain. However, core inflation, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, decreased to 6.1%, two tenths more than the national average.
Since annual inflation exceeded the 3% threshold in August 2021, the accumulated increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has been 12% in both the Valencian Community and Spain. The increase that has taken place in Food and non-alcoholic beverages (25.3% vs. 24.5% in Spain) and Clothing and footwear (19.5% vs. 20.2%) can be highlighted. On the opposite end, Housing, water, electricity and gas stands out (0.3% vs. 2.4%), which shows that after the initial sharp rise, prices have fallen close to their starting level.
The greatest amount of data made available by autonomous communities is displayed at the level of headings, which are divided into 56 categories. In the Valencian Community, six of these headings, all related to food and beverages, presented an annual inflation rate of more than 15%: Sugar (41.8%), Milk (19.0%), Potatoes and their preparations (18.6%), Pork (15.8%), Dairy products (15.4%) and Oils and fats (15.4%). As for the monthly variation experienced between May and June, the increase in the prices of Tourism and hotels and restaurants (2.6%) and the fall of Beans and fresh vegetables (4.7%) also stood out in the Valencian Community.
The Price Bulletin of the Valencian Community, prepared by the Ivie, is included in the Price-Monitoring Observatory of the Valencian Region. In addition to these brief monthly reports, the project comprises a database with a system of indicators based on comprehensive data from the CPI, which is completed with other price indexes in different areas such as Industry, Housing, Urban land, Commerce and Tourism. It contains data for the Valencian Community, the rest of the regions and Spain and is updated monthly.
