Asymmetries in funding accentuate the differences in social care expenditure among Spanish regions
Public expenditure on social protection is determined by the aging of the population and other socio-economic traits. Although the relative priority given to these services has increased in recent years, expenditure on social protection per capita in the Valencian region is still far below the average of the other regions.
The financial discrimination that the Valencian region suffers has determined its level of spending on social care and towards support for dependent people over the last decade, which is below the average spent by other regions.
