The Valencian public universities have tripled the number of scholarship granted to degree students

According to the latest update of SIUVP, 15% of the total scholarships granted were made directly by the Valencian public universities during the 2014/15 academic year

The Valencian public universities have tripled their investment in scholarships directed towards their degree students for the 2014/2015 (latest data available) academic year. Specifically, the financial grants given by these 5 universities (excluding grants from the Spanish Ministry of Education, the Valencian Regional Ministry of Education or the European Union) reached 19.1 million euros, compared to 6.2 million from last year’s budget. Thus, the number of scholarships granted by the Valencian public universities now represent 15% of the total scholarships given to degree students, while in the previous year it was only 5.6%.

These figures can be found in the SIUVP (Valencian Public University System) website, which offers information on the Valencian public universities with the latest updates now available.

The University of Alicante, Jaume I University, Miguel Hernández University at Elche, Polytechnic University of Valencia and University of Valencia have a total of 129,140 students enrolled in the present academic year, 80% of which are bachelor’s degree students, 12% are studying a master’s degree and the remaining 8% are PhD students.

The number of degrees offered by the five Valencian public universities has increased during the 2016/2017 academic year with 38 new masters. Students have been able to choose from a total of 367 master’s degrees (11% more than the previous year) and 198 bachelor’s degrees.

As shown in the graph on the website’s initial page, the number of doctoral theses approved has increased outstandingly to 2,467, double than the previous year. In addition, in 2015, the last year available, 7,154 scientific articles were generated, 6.5% more than in the previous year.

Also, SIUVP has updated some of the 60 indicators offered with the latest data referring to the 2014/2015 academic year. This review includes, in addition to the information on scholarship grants mentioned above, new data in the following sections:

  • Internationalization
  • Research and tech transfer
  • Human resources
  • Economic data

SIUVP allows you to query data from a specific academic course, as well as to obtain the evolution of an indicator during the last years. Personalized searches are also possible by selecting a specific university or the system in general, and for some indicators, the information is detailed by area of study or degree.

The SIUVP database is the result of a joint collaboration between the 5 Valencian public universities and the Ivie. The data ranges from purely academic aspects, such as supply and demand, to more specific economic data on resources and results of each university.

This website and its periodical updates are proof of the commitment to reinforce transparency made by the 5 Valencian public universities: University of Alicante, Jaume I University, Miguel Hernández University at Elche, Polytechnic University of València and University of València.
