Feria Valencia (Valencia Trade Fair) generated €660 million in GDP and the equivalent of 13,289 full-time jobs in 2019

The institution's activities also enabled a tax collection of 272.2 million euros

In 2019, Feria Valencia had an impact on the Valencian economy of 660.5 million euros, an increase of 11.6% over the previous year. In addition, Feria Valencia’s activities created or sustained the equivalent of 13,289 full-time jobs, 7.3% more than in 2018. These two variables (income and employment) account for 0.63% of the Valencian Community’s GDP and 0.66% of its total employment.

Feria Valencia generates wealth for the Valencian economy through four different channels. The main one being through increased sales by Valencian firms that participate in the Valencian trade fair, which represent 585.3 million euros in GDP and 11,339 jobs. The second is through spending incurred by the 3,144 exhibitors who participated in fairs held during 2019. Specifically, according to the report, their contribution to region’s GDP is estimated at 42.8 million and the equivalent of 799 full-time jobs. Thirdly, another import impact is derived from visitor spending. In 2019, Feria Valencia had a total of 551,734 visitors, 3% more than in the previous year. Of this total, 11.4% were visitors from outside the region and 6.5% from other countries. The injection of tourist spending resulted in an impact of 16.7 million euros on GDP and 670 full-time jobs. Finally, the least important source of wealth comes from Feria Valencia’s operating costs, as its contribution to GDP is estimated at 15.7 million euros and employment at 482 jobs.

The 2019 impact analysis report carried out by the Ivie includes an estimate of the tax revenue generated by its activities. According to the data, Feria Valencia’s activities enabled a tax collection of 273.2 million euros in 2019, of which 38.2% were obtained via VAT, 32.4% through Social Security contributions, 21.1% through corporate income tax and the remaining 8.3% through personal income tax.

Based on the report directed by Joaquín Maudos, Feria Valencia has an important ripple effect on the Valencian economy which is clearly reflected in the fact that every euro invested in Feria Valencia’s activities during 2019 generated 13.5 euros in income (GDP) and 30.3 in sales. In addition, for every million euros spent on operating expenses, 272 new jobs were created in the region.
