Pérez and Mas will participate in the workshop "Analysis of the regional economies" at the UIMP, Pirineos.
Francisco Pérez, the research director of the Ivie and professor at the Universitat de Valencia, and Matilde Mas, researcher at the Ivie and professor at the Universitat de Valencia, will participate in the workshop "Analysis of the regional economies", as part of the summer programme at the Universidade Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) Pirineos.
Francisco Pérez will present a paper on physical, social and human capital, and its regional distribution, while Matilde Mas will focus on the impact of infrastructures, and of information and communication technologies (ICT) on regional growth. Afterwards, Pérez and Mas will take part in a round-table debate on perpectives and proposals for analysing regional economies, in which Símon Sosvilla, senior lecturer at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and researcher at the Fundación de Estudios de Economia Aplicada (FEDEA) will also participate. Senior lecturer at the Universidad de Zaragoza Maria Dolores Gadea Rivas will chair the debate.
The course is an opportunity for an in-depth study of theoretical and empirical developments in spatial economic studies: methods for current and structural analysis, and databases with reliable, detailed and useful information. Over the last few years interest in the distribution of economic activities has increased significantly. Consolidating the state of affairs of the autonomous regions requires more precise information about the regional dynamics in Spain, and more specifically in this workshop, the situation in Aragón.
