Endowment per worker in transport infrastructure in the Mediterranean Arc region is 12% lower than in Spain
The impact of the crisis on investments in transport infrastructure in Spain has been so intense that for many regions the investment is not enough to cover the deteriorated capital. Although investment in the Mediterranean Arc region has experienced fewer cutbacks, endowment per worker in this type of infrastructure is 12% below the national average regarding capital stock, as well as road, railway and airport infrastructure. In the case of the Valencia region, endowment per worker in transport infrastructure is even lower, 16% below the national average.
The construction of the Mediterranean Corridor will help enhance firm competitiveness, not only in the Mediterranean Arc region, but also in Spain. In addition, it will partially improve the economies within this region that are at a disadvantage in transport infrastructure.
