Since 1995 the BBVA Foundation and the Ivie have been conducting an extensive research program on Spanish economic growth. The regularly-updated databases on capital stock are the basis of this program.
The series on investment and capital stock offer a wealth of information with multiple disaggregations covering long periods of time by asset type, sector, and institution (public and private). The information also includes the territorialization of the series according to autonomous community and province. These series have been incorporated into the OECD database on this particular subject.
The database
El stock y los servicios del capital en España y su distribución territorial was updated in 2009 and offers data on capital accumulation, spanning more than four decades. Also available is the version of the database
El stock de capital en España y su distribución territorial (1964-2002). Antigua metodología, which includes data before the methodology was adapted to the new Annual System of Accounts (SEC-95).
The series
Series históricas de capital público en España y su distribución territorial (1900-2005) are the result of an on-going analysis on investment in the public sector. The database spans more than a century of Spain's history and is detailed according to autonomous community and province, thus facilitating the analysis of the impact of public capital on growth and convergence among regions. Detailed information is also provided on the public sector's investment strategy in areas key to growth and welfare, such as infrastructures, health, and education.
